Sandy started her career in a Bay Street brokerage firm and now has over 20 years of experience in the investment industry. Her educational background is diverse; she holds a Bachelor of Arts (History) from the University of Toronto and her CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation which she has held since 1998. After gaining a wealth of knowledge in the brokerage firm, Sandy moved to a Pension Fund Consulting firm, in a research capacity, where she worked with corporate sponsors of pension funds across Canada. Following this Sandy took a few years away from the work force to focus on her young family.
In 1992 she joined Altamira Financial Services as an Investment Advisor. While there she climbed the industry ladder progressing from Investment Advisor to Supervisor of Investment Advisors, to Trainer of Investment Advisors, a position she held until she left to join TD Asset Management as a Financial Planner in 1997. In 2000 she returned to Altamira in the area of Private Wealth Management as an advisor to higher net worth clients. Her superb abilities and skills led to the appointment of Senior Vice-President of Sales and Service Nationally.
After a number of years with Altamira, Sandy sought a lifestyle change, and started her search for a financial planning position in York Region. To her delight she joined the team at Independent Planning Group, Stouffville in January 2006.
Sandy is committed to client education and has organized and presented many seminars to assist clients in better understanding their many financial planning strategies and options. She loves working with people and assisting them in making the choices necessary for their financial security. Sandy's warm demeanor and professional attitude combined with her financial planning expertise have been the driving force behind the long-term relationships she enjoys with her clients.
Sandy and her husband have three terrific boys, two of whom are in university and the youngest attends high school. She has been the family cheerleader supporting her husband and boys in their pursuit of playing sports, whether it is hockey, soccer or baseball. Sandy has also been very involved in her boys' education, holding several positions on school councils. In her spare time, she loves to read, knit and needlepoint.
