Carol & Sandy, who have enjoyed a close working relationship since 1996, are co-owners of the branch office in Stouffville. They both hold the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, a standard of excellence recognized in the financial planning profession. Carol and Sandy are both hardworking and down to earth. They specialize in helping individuals who have either owned or managed a business, saved diligently or are in a life transition (widowed, divorced, employment termination, sale of business, inheriting wealth). They assist clients with their retirement needs, investment portfolios, estate planning and insurance needs. In their team approach, Sandy prepares financial & estate plans and carries out analytical work for clients while Carol focuses on the creation and monitoring of investment portfolios.
Carol holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Social Work from McMaster University. Carol practiced social work for three years upon graduating from McMaster University in 1981. She enjoyed caring for people, but she didn't relish the task of working with emotional problems daily. She jokes that "Helping people with money is a lot more fun". After social work, she became a graduate of Personnel and Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto.
She joined the investment industry in 1987 as a stockbroker. Prior to working at a brokerage firm, she was a management consultant assisting companies with efficiency improvements. In 1992 she was a founding partner of this Stouffville Financial Planning business.
Carol describes her best personal accomplishment as her marriage to her husband, Doug. They enjoy leisurely walks on their country property with their black Labrador Retriever. Carol is a fitness fan and has completed a number of marathons. She is dedicated to visiting her aging mother regularly and takes great pleasure in spending time with her close friends. A country girl at heart, she also loves her visits to her family's standardbred horse farm.
Sandy is a business graduate from the University of Windsor. Upon graduating in 1982 she joined a management-training program with a major Canadian Bank. She changed course when she moved to Australia to take advantage of a career opportunity for her husband.
Being the "go-getter" she is, Sandy became an integral part of a successful North American business start up in Australia. After the launch, she was responsible for the financial reporting for the firm.
Although she enjoys helping people with their money, the real love of Sandy's life is her husband and their two children. She is reluctantly cutting the apron strings as her daughter pursues a Journalism degree and her son relishes the freedom of having his driver's license. Sandy loves encouraging her family in all their endeavours. Sandy's goals have always included the need to strike a balance between work and family.
Besides her family, Sandy spends many hours volunteering her time to a local children's charity, The Jennifer Ashleigh Foundation. Since 1994 she has held various positions with the Foundation. Sandy is currently a member of the Advisory Board, Long-term Planning Committee and Auction Committee. She is very dedicated to helping the families of children who are living through anxious times. Sandy firmly believes there are few greater rewards than those that come through volunteering.
Sandy's commitment to people is obvious by the career she chose, the family she is raising and the time she gives, to helping others. She is a wonderful financial planner and clients enjoy the relationships they have established with her.
Carol and Sandy are committed to on going education to better serve their clients. They have educated and lectured, by invitation, at various community organizations, libraries, companies, and industry training classes. Carol has published articles in newspapers and industry trade magazines and has been a guest on a TV money program.
Carol & Sandy's financial planning knowledge, analytical skills, business management experience and enjoyment of people, make them exceptional at what they do!
